Septic Systems - State & County Ordered Upgrades

The authority to regulate Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (POWTS) comes from Wisconsin Administrative Code.  These regulations are met through local counties before work can be done.  POWTS come in many varieties but they have some common elements. Generally, water runs down gradient from the residence into a septic tank and it is then dispersed into the treatment/disposal area.  There is information available through customers individual counties.  The following are links to county ordinances with information customers need to properly upgrade their septic systems.
